Carved from a single piece of solid wood, this washbasin unfolds in two connected hollows, a deep main basin on one side and a shallower companion bowl on the other, joined by a gently rising carved waist. The smaller hollow naturally holds soap or small everyday objects, while the elongated, asymmetric silhouette follows the movement of the log itself, making the final form impossible to repeat.
The play of tone is the heart of the piece. A core of dark heartwood anchors each hollow, framed by the warm rose and honey shades of the surrounding grain, so the two bowls read almost like still pools within the wood. The interior is worked to a smooth, tactile finish that lets water glide over the swirling figure and growth rings, with every knot and fine crack preserved as a record of the tree's life. A brushed brass drain stopper sits in the main basin as a refined metallic counterpoint to the earthy carved surface.
