This is one of those pieces where the wood and the maker seem to have arrived at the form together. Carved from a single solid log, the body tapers and swells with a fluidity that feels closer to throwing clay than carving timber. The grain follows the contours of the whole piece continuously, shifting from warm amber at the base to deeper, richer tones toward the center.

The surface is smooth and almost luminous, with natural checking and fine cracks that run through the piece honestly, adding to its character rather than diminishing it. It is the kind of object that draws the hand as much as the eye.
