Brutalist Sculptural Chair, Carved, Solid Wood, Oak, Black, Rustic
Hand-carved from solid hardwood, this chair is a fully functional sculptural object with a strong, primitive presence. The form is immediately recognizable as a chair yet resists any conventional category. Four rounded, tapered legs support a thick oval seat, above which rises an asymmetric backrest that overhangs to one side in a bold, deliberate gesture. The result is a silhouette that feels both ancient and contemporary at the same time.
Every component flows organically into the next. There are no joints, no upholstery, no added elements. The entire piece is carved from a single source, giving it a cohesive integrity that factory-made furniture cannot replicate. The rounded, softened forms suggest something closer to a figurative sculpture than a conventional chair, which makes it as compelling to look at as it is to sit in.
The deep ebonized finish brings all surfaces into a unified matte black tone while keeping the wood's natural grain, tool marks, and texture fully visible. The material history of the timber remains present throughout, adding depth and authenticity to every surface.
